Colorado School of Mines

Meet the Phonathon Callers

William Martinez

Year - Freshman
Hometown - Arequipa, Peru
Major - Metallurgical and Materials Engineering

Why I came to CSM - Because it has an extraordinary program of MME.  In addition to being a top engineering school, the School of Mines is sponsoring me for studying here thank to a scholarship program.

Extra-Curricular Activities - Playing sports like soccer, basketball, tennis and volleyball.  I also like playing chess and acting and listening to different kinds of music.

What I want to do after I graduate - I want to work in the industry so I can get work and experience.  After a couple of years, I would like to get a Masters degree in Materials Science.

What I like best about Mines - Personally, I like and appreciate the good education that it gives to the students.  As well as the learning about the culture of other countries, I have the opportunity to show them about Peruvian culture.

The hardest part about attending Mines - being Being a student in a top school like this one requires a lot of sacrifice doing homework and assignment.  However, I think it is worth it.

My fondest memory - As I say before, I am here thanks to a scholarship program.  I remember the day when they called to tell me that I was selected.    It was my red letter day.  I am so thankful with God for that.
