Named Endowment Gifts

Named Endowment GiftsEndowment gifts are established by donors who wish to provide for the School in perpetuity.

Since only earnings from endowment funds are available for current use, the fund principal remains forever intact.

Endowment investments are strategically managed by the CSM Foundation.

Over the last fifteen years, the Foundation's long-term investment pool has averaged a total annual return of 11.5%.


Faculty Chairs ($2,500,000 and above):

A distinguished chair is the highest honor CSM may bestow on a member of the faculty.

A chair helps attract and retain top faculty by demonstrating the strongest commitment on the part of the School and its supporters to a given discipline.

Faculty Distinguished Professorships ($1,000,000 and above):

A distinguished professorship is awarded to professors in recognition of their outstanding teaching, research, and service.

Income from the endowment or gift will be used in combination with other funds to partially support the teaching and scholarly activities of the recipients.

Developmental and Other Professorships ($100,000 - $999,999):

Available to junior faculty members, a developmental professorship provides support for the teaching and scholarly activities of the recipients.

Scholarships ($25,000 and above):

Endowed scholarships assure the availability of financial support for deserving, qualified students who want to attend Mines.

Need-based scholarships provide financial assistance to students who may not otherwise have the financial ability to attend Mines, while merit-based scholarships recognize and reward academic excellence.

Program and Facility Support ($25,000 and above):

A variety of opportunities exist for establishing an endowment to support library collections, specific departments or programs, and laboratories.

Opportunities to name campus facilities, such as lecture halls, classrooms and other key campus locales are also available.


Fellowships and Doctoral Research Support ($25,000 and above):

Because an organization is only as good as the people who comprise its ranks, CSM continuously seeks to bring exceptional students to campus.

Graduate fellowships enhance the School’s ability to attract both students and professionals from the field and provide them with the resources to carry on leading-edge research.

Financial assistance to support meaningful graduate research is crucial to attracting the best and brightest students to CSM.
