KATHLEEN WILTSEY
Ms. Kathleen Wiltsey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical and Petroleum
Refining Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in 1977 and an MBA from Harvard
University in 1984.
Ms. Wiltsey joined Procter & Gamble as a Process Development Engineer in Product
Development in Cincinnati, where she became a Section Head.
In 1984, Ms. Wiltsey joined Amgen Inc., then a biotechstart-up of 130 people, as Business
Development Manager. She became Co-Product Development Team Leader and Marketing Director
for Amgens first product, EPOGENā , a biotechnology therapeutic that stimulates red
blood cell production. It became a $2 billion product for the biotech leader. Ms. Wiltsey
served as Vice President of Amgen from 1991 to 1998.
Currently, Ms. Wiltsey serves as a member of the board of the Discovery Center for Science
& Technology, a new hands-on science museum in development, and as a member of the
board of the Los Angeles Opera. Ms. Wiltsey resides in Westlake Village, California, with
her husband, John LaValle, and their two daughters, Alexandra and Whitney.
